MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee volleyball team had a hard time getting anything going offensively on Friday night and fell to Green Bay 3-0 at the Kress Center.
The Panthers (6-14, 5-4 Horizon League) were held to 34 kills and a .184 attack percentage against the Phoenix.
Milwaukee took early control in the first and built a late four-point lead, but Green Bay rallied late. With the Panthers on top 22-19, the Phoenix used two straight kills and an ace to tie it.
GB (16-7, 7-2 Horizon League) then recorded a block for its first lead of the set. The teams traded errors, but the Phoenix landed a final blow to deflate MKE 25-23.
In the second, Green Bay totaled 25 digs and three blocks to hold the Panthers to a .130 attack percentage. MKE fell behind early and could not respond, dropping a 25-22 frame.
That continued in the third frame as the Panthers recorded just eight kills. Green Bay used runs of 8-1 and 6-1 to build a 17-6 lead and never looked back.
Madi Malone led MKE with nine kills and 13 digs.
Czhen Beneby put away eight swings with a .438 attack percentage.
Josie Johnson had 12 assists and eight digs while
Kaley Blake finished with 11 assists and seven digs.
The Panthers return to the Klotsche Center on Tuesday to host IUPUI at 6:00 pm.
