Malone Named Player of the Week

The freshman dominated at the Shamrock Invitational

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – For the second consecutive week, a member of the Milwaukee volleyball team was named Horizon League Player of the Week as Madi Malone collected the honor on Wednesday.

The award marks Malone's first of her career and second this year for Milwaukee after Ari Miller earned the honor one week ago.

Malone had an incredible weekend at the Shamrock Invitational, leading the team with 61 kills and a .329 attack percentage to help secure a pair of big victories. The freshman also added 41 digs (3.15 per set) and a pair of blocks as she recorded three consecutive double-doubles.

In Friday's win over Cincinnati, Malone shouldered the load with a career-high 24 kills and .404 attack percentage. She recorded the first double-double of her collegiate career as she added 10 digs against the Bearcats. After posting 18 kills and a career-high 17 digs against Bowling Green, Malone capped the tournament with a 19-kill, 14-dig performance in a 3-1 win over the Irish. The Newark, Ill. native was named to the Shamrock Invitational All-Tournament Team for her performance.

Malone and company next head to Vermillion, S.D. for the South Dakota Classic.
