Panthers Sweep Jaguars in The Jungle

MKE hit .326 with 40 kills in the sweep

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A nearly flawless second set helped fuel a Milwaukee volleyball sweep on Sunday as the Panthers knocked off IUPUI 3-0 in The Jungle.

"Our offense was very strong but that was a team effort for sure," head coach Susie Johnson commented. "Extremely happy with this strong start to conference play."

After some early attack errors put IUPUI in front in set one, the Panthers used a 9-2 run to gain control and never looked back. The Jaguars (2-12, 0-3 Horizon) pulled within three at 19-16 but back-to-back kills from Abby Koenen and Madi Malone helped the Panthers (8-6, 2-0 Horizon) earn a 25-18 set-one win.

In the second, Ari Miller set the tone early with four kills in the first six points as Milwaukee rolled out to a 7-0 lead. The Panthers continued to pour it on and finished with a 17-1-29 line, hitting .552 on their way to a 25-12 victory in the second.

MKE leaned on Carmen Heilemann in the third and the fifth-year senior did not disappoint as she put away five kills in seven swings. She added three aces and a pair of digs to help the Panthers earn the sweep with a 25-17 victory.

Miller led all players with 14 kills while Heilemann joined in double figures with 11 and a .611 attack percentage.

Rylie Vaughn dished up 24 assists to go with seven digs and an ace. Malone totaled eight kills and a team-high 13 digs for the Panthers.

After 11 straight on the road, the Panthers return to the Klotsche Center to host Northern Kentucky and Wright State beginning on October 30.
