CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Milwaukee men's soccer team had its game against Eastern Illinois cancelled this afternoon after dealing with weather-related issues the entire day.
Originally scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., the kickoff was moved to 11 a.m. to try and get ahead of the severe thunderstorms in the afternoon forecast.
The game got underway and hit the intermission with the score still at 0-0. The Panthers led the shot count by a total of 5-2, including on-target shots from
Adi Vaknin,
Logan Farrington, and
Josh Kidder.
Lightning became the first issue at intermission, with announced delays pushing the start of the second half later and later as the storm continued to close in. Following over two hours of delays and with worse weather conditions moving in, the decision was made to cancel the contest.
Milwaukee returns to action Friday at Butler, set for a 6 p.m. CST start.
