HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky claimed a doubleheader sweep of the Milwaukee baseball team Saturday afternoon at Bill Aker Baseball Complex.
"It was an extremely disappointing day," head coach
Scott Doffek said. "Eddy [
Mike Edwards] was solid in game one but we were simply non-competitive in the box. That carried over in game two. We were completely dominated on both sides of the ball."
The Norse used a big inning to take game two after getting a strong pitching effort to get past the Panthers in the opener.
Down 3-0 after the top of the first in game two, Milwaukee started clawing back with a run in the fourth on
Mike Ferri's single to score
Zach Nogalski.
Things went the wrong way the next half inning, with NKU plating eight runs, only four of them earned, to take control.
In the opener, NKU grabbed a 2-0 lead behind a pair of solo home runs in the second inning.
Jack Kraus singled in
Luke Seidel in the seventh but that was all Milwaukee could cash in.
Edwards tossed all six innings in game one and struck out six for Milwaukee.
Nogalski and Kraus each reached base twice on the day for Milwaukee, tallying a hit and a run apiece.
Milwaukee and Northern Kentucky will wrap up the series tomorrow with an 11:00 am CT start time. Live coverage links for the game can be found on
