Walstad Selected as Horizon League Player of the Week

The award is Walstad’s first career weekly honor

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Megan Walstad of the Milwaukee women's basketball team was named Horizon League Player of the Week after helping the Panthers sweep Green Bay with a pair of outstanding performances.
 
The award marks the first career Player of the Week honor for the redshirt sophomore.
 
Walstad helped the Panthers earn a season sweep of Green Bay for the first time since 2005-06, averaging a double-double of 17.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. In the two wins, Walstad hit 54.2 percent (13-for-24) of her field goals including 42.9 percent (3-for-7) from three-point range. She was also a perfect 6-for-6 at the line.
 
On Saturday, Walstad opened the series with 16 points and eight rebounds before a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double to lead MKE to a win over the Phoenix on Sunday. Additionally, Walstad added three blocks and a steal in the sweep. The Apple Valley, Minn. native currently leads the league in rebounds per game (10.3) and ranks ninth in scoring (12.2 points per game).
 
Walstad was also named a College Sports Madness High-Major Conference Player of the Week.
