Maroon Up Next For Panthers

Women lead a perfect all-time series, 10-0

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee men's and women's swimming and diving team return to action against the University of Chicago on Saturday, Jan. 18, in Chicago, Ill. Competition gets underway at 1 p.m. from Myers-McLoraine pool.
 
SCOUTING THE MAROON
The University of Chicago is 2-1 on the season after defeating both Wheaton and Carthage and falling to Washington-St. Louis. Most recently, the Maroon won both team titles at the Phoenix Fall Classic while breaking three school records and three pool records. The Maroon also added 53 NCAA DIII provisional qualifying times and scores.
 
The Panthers and the Maroon have competed head-to-head every year since 2009 with the exception of the meet cancellation last season. The MKE women lead a perfect all-time series, 10-0, over the Maroon while the Panther men lead the all-time series over the Maroon, 9-1, with its only loss in 2018.
 
CLEAN SWEEP
Milwaukee made a clean sweep of all events in the dual against St. Norbert earlier this month from the Klotsche Natatorium. The MKE men swam to a dominating, 151-65, win over the Green Knights while the women followed suit, winning 127-59.
 
17 AND COUNTING
With Milwaukee's win at home against St. Norbert, the Panther women extended the winning streak at home to 17. MKE has not lost at home since 2014 with one more home meet to go this season.
 
LEAGUE TOP FIVE
Five Panthers swam to the league's top five times this fall. Freshman Molly Meland has the fourth-fastest time in the 100 back (56.62) and the fifth-fastest 100 fly time (55.60) while classmate McKenzie Sanchez claims the third-best score on both the one-meter (284.18) and three-meter (282.83) events.
 
On the men's side, senior Patrick Kelley has the second-fastest time in the league in the 200 fly (1:48.74), which is only 0.34 seconds from the top spot. Classmate Zach Hammond grabbed the fifth-fastest time in the 200 breast (2:03.59) while freshman Jared Kleczka has the fifth-best score on the one-meter (293.18).
 
ON DECK
After Saturday's dual, the Panthers return home for senior day at final home meet of the season against league foe Green Bay on Saturday, Jan. 25.
