Panthers Celebrate “Senior Day” Saturday On My24 Sports

Akaylah Hayes, Ryaen Johnson to be recognized prior to tip off

MILWAUKEE – Fresh off a 25-point home win Thursday, the Milwaukee women's basketball team will close out its home slate Saturday with a 2 pm contest against Oakland. The game from inside the Klotsche Center will be televised live locally on My24 Sports Milwaukee, with Bob Brainerd and Maria Viall on the call. Prior to tip, the Panthers will honor their senior class of Akaylah Hayes and Ryaen Johnson in their final home games as Panthers.

LOOKING AT THE GOLDEN GRIZZLIES
Oakland comes in with a 6-20 overall record after falling at Green Bay on Thursday. The Golden Grizzlies were without two of their top players in Taylor Jones and Chloe Guingrich in that 72-32 loss to the Phoenix.

Jones - the two-time reigning Horizon League Sixth Person of the Year - is a do-it-all player for OU. She ranks third in the conference this year in points (14.8/game), second in assists (4.3/game) and ninth in rebounds (6.8/game). She just missed her second triple-double of the year against UIC last week, finishing with 23 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists in the big win for the Golden Grizzlies.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Eleven different Panthers scored as the Milwaukee women's basketball team used a number of big scoring runs to cruise to a 79-52 win over Oakland Friday evening from the O'rena.

The win is the third in a row for Milwaukee (8-9, 3-3 Horizon), with the 79 points equaling a new season high in the team's largest win of the year.

The Panthers finished the game shooting a season-high 50 percent (32-64) as a team, finishing with 21 assists – also a season best.

SERIES HISTORY
Milwaukee holds an 8-6 lead over Oakland at the Division-I level. The two programs have traditionally created a number of memorable showdowns, including a 98-95 barn-burner win for MKE in the 2015-16 season in Michigan.

UP NEXT
The Panthers will wrap up the 2018-19 regular season on the road next week. The two-game swing starts Thursday with a 7 pm contest at UIC.
