Key Roadtrip Starts Friday At Cleveland State For MKE

Panthers, Vikings battled to 59-53 Milwaukee win last month

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's basketball team starts a pivotal weekend roadtrip this Friday with a 6 pm Central showdown with Cleveland State from inside the Wolstein Center. The Panthers and Vikings had a typical back-and-forth battle the first time around last month, with the Panthers finding a way down the stretch for a 59-53 victory.

LOOKING AT THE VIKINGS
Despite being picked eighth in the preseason poll, the Vikings have been arguably the surprise team so far in the Horizon League. Sitting at 10-14 overall and 7-6 in league play, good for fifth place under first-year head coach Chris Kielsmeier.

Individually, Mariah White and Mariah Miller have won the last two league athlete-of-the-week awards, while newcomer Savanna Crockett has been named the league's weekly top freshman four times on the year.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Bre Cera was clutch all game and finished with a career-high 13 points to help lead the Milwaukee women's basketball team to a 59-53 win over Cleveland State Saturday afternoon from the Klotsche Center.

Down by three at the break, the Panthers (7-9, 2-3 Horizon) put together an incredible defensive performance over the final 20 minutes, holding CSU (6-11, 3-3 Horizon) to just five made field goals in the entire second half.

Cera led all players with her career-high 13 points to go with six assists and five steals – also career highs – and four rebounds.

SERIES HISTORY
Milwaukee has had Cleveland State's number of late, claiming the last eight in a row against the Vikings. Despite the dominance in the win column, the two teams have had a number of memorable matchups, with just one of those last eight contests being decided by double digits.

The Panthers will head to Youngstown State for a Sunday matinee against the Penguins.
