MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Thanks to their work on the field and in the classroom,
Kylie Wilks and
Jess Grabowski earned a nod on the 2019 Academic All-District First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her institution.
Wilks earns her first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor after being named to the Horizon League All-Academic every year of her career. The senior holds a 3.95 GPA in her work toward a degree in Healthcare Administration. On the court, Wilks ranks fourth on the team with 195 kills and third with 286 digs. The Union Grove, Wis. native is just nine kills away from becoming the fifth student-athlete in program history to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
In her second year, Grabowski has been an anchor on the Panthers' defense. The award marks the first of her career. The only sophomore named to the District 6 First Team, Grabowski owns a 4.0 GPA and is pursuing an accounting degree. The Greendale, Wis. native currently leads the team and ranks third in the Horizon League with 5.0 digs per set.
As members of the First Team in District 6, both Wilks and Grabowski automatically advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. All-America honorees will be released in early December.
