Grabowski’s Career-High Leads to Weekly Award

The award marks the second of the season for the defensive specialist

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Following yet another impressive week defensively, Milwaukee volleyball's Jess Grabowski collected her second Nike® Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honor this year.

The award is Grabowski's third of her career. The sophomore was also named Defensive Player of the Week earlier this year on September 16.

Grabowski was superb for the Milwaukee back line, totaling 47 digs, an average of 6.71 per set. After recording 12 digs in a 3-0 sweep of IUPUI, the Greendale, Wis. native tallied a career-high 35 in a 3-1 win over Wright State.

In 24 total serve receptions, Grabowski recorded just one error, with a reception percentage of .958. The defense was suffocating all weekend, holding opponents to a .070 hitting percentage.

Grabowski has reached double digit digs in all 22 matches this season and ranks second in the league with 5.23 digs per set. Milwaukee is now 20-2 on the year and 7-1 on top of the Horizon League.

The Panthers will remain home to complete their five-game homestand as they host Youngstown State and Cleveland State this weekend. Tickets, live stats, and live video on ESPN+ can be found on MKEPanthers.com.
