Panthers, Raiders Square Off Saturday

Teams split series last season

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's basketball team wraps up its weekend trip to Ohio Saturday afternoon with a 1 pm Central contest at league-leading Wright State from the Nutter Center. The Panthers are coming off a heartbreaking, one-point loss to Northern Kentucky on Thursday, while the Raiders are sitting at 3-0 in league play after an 85-67 home win over defending champ Green Bay Thursday. Saturday's showdown will be streamed live online on ESPN3. Fans can also listen to Matt Menzl's radio broadcast online, with all links available at MKEPanthers.com.

LOOKING AT THE RAIDERS
Wright State is coming off an impressive 85-67 win over defending champ Green Bay - the largest win over Green Bay by a league team since 2014 and the largest regular season win by a Horizon League school since GB joined the conference. The Raiders are ranked 10th in this week's Mid-Major poll and enter Saturday's contest with an 11-4 overall record and as one of two undefeated squads remaining in league play at 3-0.

WSU features a very balanced attack. Junior college transfer Michal Miller is leading the Raiders with 13.2 points/game through 15 games. Wright State has continued its physical nature from year's past and is the top offensive rebounding team in the Horizon League.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Jenny Lindner scored 23 points to go with a career-high 16 rebounds as Milwaukee took down Wright State, 59-53 Thursday evening from the Klotsche Center.

In another battle atop the conference standings, the Panthers (17-6, 8-3 Horizon) shot 47.5 percent for the game and limited the Raiders (16-7, 7-4 Horizon) to just 30.9 percent – their lowest shooting performance on the year.

The win is even more impressive for UWM in that it is the third over a team in the Mid-Major Top-25 poll on the season (Wright State entered Thursday's game #19 in this week's rankings), which Milwaukee did Thursday with senior Steph Kostowicz on the bench nursing an injury.

SERIES HISTORY
After splitting last year's series, WSU holds a 29-27 edge over MKE in the all-time series.

UP NEXT
Milwaukee returns home for its annual school day game Thursday against Youngstown State.
