In-State Rivalry Renews Saturday From Green Bay

Panthers have won five their last six contests

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee women's basketball team will look to get the second half of conference play underway Saturday, heading to Green Bay for the next chapter in this in-state rivalry, scheduled to start at 1 pm from the Kress Center. The Panthers have won five of their last six contests overall and sit in fifth place in the Horizon League standings at the midway point.

LOOKING AT THE PHOENIX
Green Bay sits in a three-way tie for second in the league standings at the midway point of conference play with a 7-2 record so far. The Phoenix dropped a rare home contest in overtime last weekend, falling 67-63 to IUPUI.

GB is led in scoring by redshirt junior Frankie Wurtz with 11.9 points/game, but Wurtz has not played since the conference opener back in December. Redshirt senior Laken James has stepped up her game in Wurtz's absence, scoring 121 of her 191 points in conference play.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET
Jamie Reit poured in a career-high 24 points but it wasn't enough as Milwaukee dropped a 76-62 decision to Green Bay Friday night from the Klotsche Center.

A two-point game early in the fourth ballooned into a 14-point win for Green Bay (6-5, 1-0 Horizon) in the conference opener as MKE (5-7, 0-1 Horizon) went ice cold down the stretch in what had been a very tightly fought contest throughout.

Reit was hot right from the start and finished with a career-high 24 points on 7-18 shooting from the floor, including a career-best 6-15 from behind the arc.

SERIES HISTORY
Green Bay holds a 69-19 edge in the all-time series, including a 50-12 lead at the Division-I level. Milwaukee's last win over the Phoenix came back on Feb. 17, 2017 with a 72-60 victory from the Klotsche Center.

UP NEXT
The Panthers continue their five-game stretch without having to leave the state of Wisconsin with another two-game homestand, starting Thursday with a 7 pm contest against league-leading Wright State.
