Panthers Drop Tough 2-0 Decision At Dayton

Will play Ohio State Sunday

DAYTON, OhioFreddy Lorenzen made nine saves to keep the Milwaukee men's soccer team in the game, but Dayton took advantage of an own goal and added another to claim a 2-0 victory Friday night at Baujan Field.

The Panthers (1-1-0) were a bit unlucky all night against the Flyers (2-0-1), who also netted the insurance goal in the second half on a loose ball in front of the goal.

The MKE defense put together a strong effort in the first half, with Lorenzen recording five saves in the first 45 minutes alone. A bad break opened the scoring, with an own goal on a Dayton cross putting the Panthers down, 1-0, at the 39:59 mark.

The team fell behind by another goal in the 59th, this time following a Flyer corner kick that was loose in the goal box before being slotted just inside the near post before it was able to be cleared.

The Milwaukee offense could not get things going, with Dayton eventually earning a 20-to-6 shots advantage, which included 11-to-2 in shots on goal. Vuk Latinovich and Evan Conway led the way with two each.

The team will look to bounce back Sunday, taking on Ohio State in a game set to start at 11 a.m. CST.
