Young Panthers Grow In Lone Exhibition Match

All 16 active players see the court Saturday

VALPARAISO, Ind. – All 16 players on the active roster saw the court as the Milwaukee volleyball team played its lone exhibition match Saturday on the road at Valparaiso, falling 3-1.

There were plenty of bright spots for the Panthers, who played all 16 of their players, which included all eight of their newcomers on the day after a little over one week of preseason camp together thus far.

"This was great to get to see everybody on the court in live action today," Milwaukee head coach Susie Johnson said. "There were a lot of positives to take away from today and also plenty of things that we'll bring back to practice this week before our first match."

Freshman Abby Koenen led MKE with seven kills on the afternoon – one of 11 different Panthers to register at least one kill for the match in a balanced attack.

Junior setter Jenn Dore – who finished last season ranked 10th in the nation in total assists – dished out 25 in Saturday's action, while freshman Rylie Vaughn added 10 in her first collegiate action.

Kylie Wilks had a match-high 15 digs and freshman Jess Grabowski tallied another 10.

Sophomore Makenzie Mroczenski registered a match-high five blocks and was one of eight Panthers to notch at least one rejection on the day.

Milwaukee will now prepare for its season opener Friday at noon when New Hampshire comes to the Klotsche Center as part of the annual Panther Invitational.
