ROCHESTER, Mich. – Pitcher
Jared Reklaitis of the Milwaukee baseball team racked up double digit strikeouts but the Panthers fell to Oakland by a 12-7 margin Saturday at the Oakland Baseball Field.
Milwaukee fell to 8-16, 4-5 after the loss, while Okaland improved to 6-18, 4-5.
Junior pitcher
Jared Reklaitis commanded the game early striking out 10 Golden Grizzlies through five innings, but a crooked six run fifth proved too much for the Panthers to come back to.
The Panthers combined for three runs and three hits in the second and third innings for an early 3-0 lead. With bases loaded in the third,
Ben Chally singled to left center allowing
Trevor Schwecke to cross the plate. Milwaukee took a three run lead after a Chally-
Colin Kreiter double steal.
Oakland would plate 11 in the next three innings, putting the game out of reach after picking up 10 hits and two homeruns.
Leading by a 11-3 margin after six full innings, Oakland yielded three runs in the top of the seventh inning to Milwaukee. After recording two quick outs Schwecke began the two out rally reaching on an Oakland fielding error scoring
Jack Kraus. A double later by
Tyler Bordner helped Milwaukee score three runs on two hits and an Oakland error.
Schwecke led off the ninth with a solo homerun, but the Panthers couldn't come up with much thereafter.
Milwaukee will look to rebound from the weekend with a day trip to Northern Illinois set for Tuesday, April 3. UWM will have its home opener the following day, April 4 versus MSOE before hosting Northern Kentucky next weekend for a three game series.
