Walstad Named Freshman Of The Week

Freshman netted game-high 18 points against Columbia

MILWAUKEE – Megan Walstad of the Milwaukee women's basketball team has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

The honor is the first for Walstad after just her second week of collegiate action.

Coming off the bench for the first time in her young career, Walstad responded with a huge performance in helping hand Columbia its first loss of the year. The Apple Valley, Minn., native went off for a career and game-high 18 points on 6-10 shooting in just 21 minutes of action. She also hauled in five rebounds and tallied one block in the win.

Milwaukee returns to the court with three games in California this week, starting Tuesday with a 9 pm Central contest at Fresno State.
