Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 25 Green Bay Takes Down Milwaukee

Jordyn Swan led Panthers with 10 points

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Twenty-fifth ranked Green Bay shot 54 percent from the floor on its way to an 89-47 win over the Milwaukee women's basketball team Saturday afternoon from the Kress Center.

The Panthers (13-6, 5-3 Horizon) started the game scoring the first four points and forced two Green Bay (17-2, 8-0 Horizon) turnovers on its first two possessions, but quickly had two of its starters in foul trouble when the Phoenix got hot from three – connecting on 11 three-pointers in the game.

"I thought we started off the game really strong and with a great mentality. We just lost a little bit of our focus – especially defensively. They (Green Bay) came out hitting shots. You look down the line at the people who hit threes for them – that really killed us.

"They're a really good team. They move the basketball well and a lot of credit goes to them."

Jordyn Swan led Milwaukee in scoring Saturday, finishing with 10 points and three rebounds in just nine minutes off the bench.

Alexis Lindstrom was second on the team with nine points, while Sierra Ford-Washington had seven points, five assists and four rebounds.

Jessica Lindstrom led Green Bay with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including going 4-for-5 from behind the arc.

The Panthers started the game strong. Alexis Lindstrom got the game going with a triple on her first shot attempt after forcing a turnover to give Milwaukee the first points of the game. Then, after forcing another GB turnover, Steph Kostowicz connected on a free throw to make it 4-0 UWM.

From there, the Phoenix were able to get into an offensive rhythm that saw them hit four threes in the first quarter and another four in the second en route to its ninth-straight win.

Up next, UWM heads to northeast Ohio for a pair of league games next week, starting Thursday with a 10 am (Central Time) game at Cleveland State.
