MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee baseball team batted around in the first inning and gradually pulled away after that in claiming a 12-2 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Wednesday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.
Â
The Panthers (22-20) sent 11 men to the plate in the first inning in taking a 5-0 lead over the Rangers (9-30). The lead grew in the third and fourth innings and the game came to a close on a two-run home run to left center off the bat of
Aaron Buban that ended the contest due to the 10-run rule in the seventh.
Â
Jared Reklaitis (2-1) picked up the victory with a solid effort, allowing one run and just two hits over his five innings of work. He walked three and struck out six.
Â
The offense started swinging in the first inning and never stopped, piling up 14 hits in less than seven innings. Buban had the big hit to close it out, capping a 2-for-4 day that included three RBI and three runs scored. He also stole two bases, helping UWM on its way to eight on the day – the second-highest total in program history behind the record of 10.
Â
There were plenty of fireworks at the plate.
Chris Kelly Went 3-for-4 and scored twice,
Nick Unes had a 3-for-4 day, scoring three runs as well.
Â
