Panthers Top Raiders In Midweek Action

Team improves to 3-1 at home

MILWAUKEE - Jared Reklaitis pitched five shutout innings to record his first collegiate victory and the Milwaukee baseball team tallied multiple runs in four of the final five innings to earn a 15-6 victory over MSOE Tuesday afternoon at Henry Aaron Field.

On another cold day for baseball, the Panthers (18-19) got their offense warmed up late against the Raiders (17-17), highlighted by a six-run sixth inning in which they sent 11 batters to the plate.

Reklaitis (1-1) pitched well, allowing just two hits in his five scoreless frames. He walked two and struck out two in his 75-pitch performance.

Milwaukee was up 4-0 after he exited and put the game away with the rally in the sixth, highlighted by a near inside-the-park grand slam by Luke Meeteer, who had to settle for a triple that emptied the bases and drove in three. Aaron Buban closed out the scoring in the inning with a home run to left center, a two-run shot that marked his first of the season.

The offense put together 14 hits overall, led by a three-hit showing by Cole Heili, who also scored twice. Buban ended the day 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Billy Quirke was 2-for-3 and reached base five times altogether with three walks, scoring a trio of runs and driving in another. Nick Unes also had a multi-hit effort with a 2-for-5 day, driving in three. Chris Kelly had a hit, walked twice, scored three times and stole a pair of bases.

Tyler Doyle led the Raiders with two hits and two runs batted in.

Zach Brenner came on in relief of Reklaitis and added a scoreless inning. John Moynihan pitched the final 2.2 innings, striking out five.

The Panthers remain at home, opening a three-game set against Northern Kentucky Friday at Henry Aaron Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
