HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Milwaukee volleyball team came up on the short end to a high-flying Northern Kentucky squad Saturday afternoon, 3-0, from Regents Hall.
Â
The Norse (15-10, 9-5 Horizon) – who have won nine of the last 11 league matches – were red hot from start to finish in front of a big crowd for their senior day for the win, 25-13, 25-19, 25-15.
Â
"Hat off to Northern Kentucky. That's one of the best matches anyone has played against us this season," Milwaukee head coach
Susie Johnson. "I don't think there are many teams that are going to go up against what they brought to the court today and walk away happy. They just played extremely well."
Â
Myanna Ruiz led the way defensively for Milwaukee with 15 digs.
Jenn Dore had 21 assists in the match.
Â
Louise Kiekhofer had a team-high seven kills for Milwaukee.
Â
As a team, the Norse hit .367 overall - their third-highest total on the season.
Â
Keely Creamer led NKU with 15 kills, while Taylor Snyder had 40 assists and Lauren Hurley had 21 digs. All three of those players are seniors and were playing in their final home match.
Â
Despite the loss, the Panthers did clinch a spot in the Horizon League Tournament, which will run Nov. 18-20.
Â
Milwaukee returns home next weekend for a pair of matches at home to close out the regular season. The action starts Friday with a 6 pm contest against Oakland before hosting Valparaiso Saturday at 4 pm for senior day.
