VALPARAISO, Ind. (January 26, 2015) –
Matt Tiby scored 15 points for visiting University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (7-14, 2-5 Horizon) but it wasn't enough to overcome a hot shooting Valparaiso (19-4, 6-2 Horizon) squad that picked up a 73-48 victory at the Athletics-Recreation Center tonight. Valparaiso shot 56.3 percent (27-for-48) from the field on the night.

Valparaiso jumped out to an early 13-2 lead by hitting four of its first five shots as Tevonn Walker and Alec Peters combined for all of the Crusaders' first 13 points. Milwaukee couldn't get anything to fall in the first half, as it connected on just 28.6 percent (6-for-21) of its shots, while Valpo was red hot from the field, draining 57.7 percent (15-for-26) of its attempts en route to a 39-16 halftime lead.  The Panthers had a scoring drought of nearly seven minutes in the opening period.

Milwaukee was able to get within 20 on a couple of occasions in the second half, the last coming when Tiby hit a pair of free throws to get the Panthers within 55-35, but Peters scored six points in a 12-1 Valpo run that extended the lead to 67-36.

Tiby has now scored in double digits in 12 straight contests, matching the longest stretch of his career. Steve McWhorter added 12 points and five assists for Milwaukee, while Justin Jordan tallied all 11 of his points in the second half.

Peters scored 24 points to pace Valparaiso.

Milwaukee returns home to host UIC Thursday night (Jan. 29) at 7 p.m.
