MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Oct. 10, 2012) - Helen Steinhauser scored the golden goal with just 23 seconds remaining in the second overtime to send the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Loyola Wednesday evening at Engelmann Stadium.

The Panthers (4-7-1, 3-2 Horizon) have now won back-to-back games for the first time this season, while remaining in the hunt near the top of the league standings with their third league win.

"I'm proud of this team," Milwaukee head coach Greg Henschel said. "They've been through a lot this year. They showed their character with thisgame and found a good win and stayed the course."

Steinhauser's goal came in the closing seconds of the match as UWM made one last push forward. Kelly Lewers played a ball into the box that the Loyola defense was unable to clear. Kelsey Holbert was able to get a foot on the ball and push it to Steinhauser's feet and she finished for her second-straight game-winning goal.

The goal came on the Panthers only shot of the second extra frame. The Ramblers (6-7-2, 1-2-1 Horizon) had taken the first five shots of the period, forcing keeper Jamie Forbes into a pair of saves.

Milwaukee had seized control of the game's momentum from the opening whistle, culminating in the game's first score in the ninth minute. Lewers had the ball out wide and dribbled towards the goal, slotting a pass across the top of the box to Kelsey Holbert who knocked the ball into the net.

UWM held its standing for a while, but then was put on its heels by the Ramblers for much of the remainder of the half.

After the intermission, it was much of the same as LUC pushed for the equalizing goal and got it in the 61st minute. Maraiah Vichich played a long diagonal into the box and, after a bounce, Moriah Schwarz was able to head the ball back across the goal and into the net.

Loyola finished with a 17-12 shot advantage and had three more corner kicks (4-1) in the match. Forbes stopped five saves on the night, while her counterpart, Monica Gonyo, had three saves

The Panthers have a nine-day lay-off break before returning to action at Green Bay Oct. 19.
