Marcus Landry scored 16 points to lead three players in double figures as the University of Wisconsin captured a 61-39 win over the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Wednesday night at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
Torre Johnson scored 10 points to lead the Panthers (3-7), but he was the only Milwaukee player in double figures.
The sloppy game featured a combined 35 turnovers between the two teams, but the Badgers were able to steadily pull away by shooting 51 percent from the field.
Brian Butch pitched-in with 14 points and seven rebounds while Trevon Hughes added 12 for the Badgers (7-2), who have won 15-straight games over the Panthers.
UWM was in the game early, trailing just 19-15 after Deonte Roberts converted a layup with 4:12 left. But, Wisconsin scored 12 of the final 18 points of the first half and then opened the second half by scoring 12 of the first 14 points.
"They really stuck to their plan," UWM head coach Rob Jeter said of the Badgers. "There are obviously times where we get out there and we deviate from the plan a little bit. That creates tougher situations for us. I just thought if we could have stuck to the plan we really could have given ourselves a better chance."
The game was played in front of a regular-season UWM record crowd of 10,017.
