DAYTON, Ohio - Senior Zeke Dombrowski scored early in the match to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Wright State University on Sunday. The Panthers (2-8-1, 2-0-1 Horizon) remain undefeated in their three Horizon League contests this season with the win over the Raiders (2-9-0, 0-2-0 Horizon).

"The guys played their hearts out today," UWM head coach Jon Coleman said. "It wasn't a pretty match, but we were really, really resilient. We grinded it out with a workmanlike mentality and bent a bit, but did not break."

The only goal of the match came quickly at the 5:58 mark, when Dombrowski netted the first game-winner of his UWM career. After a corner kick was sent back out by senior Tenzin Rampa, freshman Elliott Dunn started the second-phase attack with a move around his defender. He chipped the ball to the far post, finding Dombrowski who finished with a perfect volley that hit the back of the net to make it 1-0.

The Panthers made that tally stand up the rest of the way with a solid all-around effort. The defense was strong once again, recording its second-straight clean sheet over the two-game weekend road trip. Milwaukee has not allowed a goal in 192:08 of play in its three-game unbeaten streak.

UWM was outshot by its opponent for just the third time this season, including an uncharacteristic eight-to-two edge in the second half. Junior goalkeeper Ryan Germann was called on to make just two saves, as the Panther defense kept the majority of the shot attempts from being dangerous. Germann made his final save of the game in the 69th minute.

"It was a pretty evenly-matched game despite what the stat sheet said," Coleman said. "They applied pressure after the half, but we were able to withstand it."

In addition to the nine-to-three shot advantage, the Raiders also recorded eight corner kicks to six for UWM. The Panthers were whistled for 14 of the 25 fouls and one of the four yellow cards. WSU keeper Matt Koewler did not record a save in the loss.

Milwaukee will put its three-game unbeaten streak on the line with a big non-conference match-up with Wisconsin on Wednesday. The Panthers welcome the Badgers to Engelmann Field for a 7 p.m. start under the lights.
