MILWAUKEE - The scoring struggles continued for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's soccer team, but this time the result was much improved as the Panthers played to a 0-0 draw with Illinois State University Sunday (Sept. 7) at Engelmann Field. The match was evenly played from the get-go, with both teams creating few quality chances in the defensive-minded game. UWM, which snapped a three-game losing streak despite not scoring for the fourth consecutive game, moved to 0-3-1 while the Redbirds record ran to 2-1-0.

"I don't look at our record and the fact we haven't scored a goal as a negative," UWM head coach Michael Moynihan said. "All four teams we have played are NCAA Tournament-caliber teams. We have a very young team that is struggling to find the offensive part of the game right now. We have had some very good support at home and hopefully we can eventually breakthrough and score some goals."

Illinois State barely outshot Milwaukee on the game, 15-14 while the Panthers took four corner kicks to ISU's zero. UWM was called for 22 fouls in the double overtime contest while the Redbirds were whistled for just 10. Kerri St. Aubin shined in goal for the Panthers as the junior stopped six shots while playing all 110 minutes. The shutout was the first of the season for St. Aubin and the 11th of her career. The Sterling Heights, Mich.-native currently leads all UWM keepers in career goals against average while her 11 career blankings are good for a second-place tie all-time.

"Kerri did real well today," added Moynihan. "She is playing very aggressively and confidently right now. Most importantly, the rest of the team has confidence with her in the net and that has helped us defensively."

The road will not get any easier for the Panthers as they head to California to play in the Loyola Marymount Invitational next Friday and Sunday. UWM will face the No. 2 team in the nation, UCLA, Friday (Sept. 12) at 3:00 p.m. in Los Angeles.
