Panthers Cruise Past Billikens

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Junior Karen Fruit collected a career-high 22 kills while hitting .514 for the match to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to a 30-20, 30-18, 30-25 win over St. Louis on day two of the Billiken Invitational.

UWM (2-0) handled the hosts easily, hitting .362 as a team while limiting the Billikens (0-2) to a .142 hitting percentage.

Fruit, who missed Friday's season-opener to attend a family wedding, also added nine digs while leading the Panthers offensively. Sarah Potts had 13 kills while Rachel Kuebbing added 10. Lindsey Spoden tallied 45 assists and led the team with 13 digs. Kuebbing led the Panthers with five blocks.

The Panthers will look to claim the title at the Billiken Invitational later today when they take on Purdue.
