Viall Leads Panthers Past Ball State

CHICAGO - Maria Viall collected 31 points and 13 rebounds to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to a 78-73 win over Ball State in the consolation game of the Moran Realty Classic Saturday night at the DePaul Athletic Center.

The Panthers (1-1) trailed, 37-35, at halftime, but outscored the Cardinals (0-2) 43-36 in the second half behind 61 percent shooting from the field.

Teri Huff, who missed the season opener due to a suspension for violating team rules, also sparked the Panthers with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Aubrey Hampton also had 10 points while Kiley Johnson tallied eight.

UWM shot 51.7 percent from the field and, one night after committing 37 turnovers in a loss to DePaul, dropped that total to 21 while also grabbing 18 offensive rebounds.

Viall converted 12-of-16 field goals and 7-of-11 free throws in 36 minutes of action.
