GREEN BAY, Wis. - On a cold and rainy night in Green Bay, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team broke through with two second-half goals to defeat the UW-Green Bay in Horizon League action Wednesday night (Oct. 22).

The win moved the Panthers to 11-4-1 overall and 5-0-1 in league play with one league game to play. UWM can clinch the Horizon League title with a win Friday (Oct. 24) at Loyola University. With the loss, UWGB falls to 2-10-1 overall and 0-5-0 in league play.

The Panthers controlled play most of the game but could not find the back of the net in the first half. Senior forward Bobby Lish energized the Milwaukee offense after entering the game in the 32nd minute. The UWM defense held the Phoenix to few scoring chances in the first 45 minutes.

Milwaukee turned the pressure up in the second half, which eventually led to a pair of goals midway through the frame. Sophomore Kyle Zenoni took a Julian Chang pass and beat the UWGB keeper in the 52nd minute. The goal was the second of the season for Zenoni, who started in place of Tighe Dombrowski, suspended due to yellow card accumulation.

The Panthers struck again in the 77th minute, as defender Chris Brisson scored his first goal of the season. Brisson took a loose ball and rifled home a shot from 25-yards out. The Panther defense held on the rest of the night in helping Kirk Thode register his sixth shutout of the season.

UWM ended the game with 26 shots overall and 13 on goal while holding UWGB to nine shots overall, two of which were on net. The Panthers took 10 corner kicks on the game to three for the hosts.

Friday's game at Loyola is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. If UWM wins the league it will earn hosting rights for the 2003 Horizon League Tournament.
