Lisa Krzykowski Takes To National Spotlight In Women's Soccer

MILWAUKEE-Former UWM women's soccer player Lisa Krzykowski will compete in the Women's United Soccer Association's championship game as the Atlanta Beat take on the Bay Area CyberRays on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 1 pm CT in Foxboro, Mass.

Krzykowski, a member of the Panther squad from 1994-1997, will start at left back for Atlanta in the first-ever WUSA Founder's Cup. The former Panther has started 17 of 18 games played fand posts four points (one goal, two assists) on the season.

The Beat (10-4-7) are at the top of the eight-team league standings with 37 points. Atlanta advanced to the league title game after a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory against the Philadelphia Charge last weekend in Atlanta.

The Cedarburg, Wis. native played most of her UWM career at the forward position, and ended her illustrious career as UWM's all-time leading scorer with 141 points (57 goals, 27 assists). She holds many school records and has received numerous accolades nation-wide in recognition of her outstanding athletic performances.

Krzykowski is the first woman from Wisconsin to ever play professional soccer.
