Butler overcame a four-point deficit in the final minute of regulation, then outscored the UWM men 16-11 in overtime to claim an 80-75 victory Thursday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Jason Frederick scored 19 points and Chad Angeli added 13 to lead the Panthers (13-11, 5-6 MCC), who saw their three-game winning streak snapped. Rylan Hainje led all scorers with 26 points.

In the extra session, Butler (17-7, 8-3) took the lead for good on a Joel Cornette dunk with 2:32 to play, and led by as many as six in the closing moments of overtime.

UWM led 64-60 following a Chad Angeli layin with 1:07 left in regulation, but Butler rallied, tying the game at 64-64 with 29.6 seconds remaining on two Brandon Miller free throws. Clay Tucker's attempt to win the game with a 15-footer in the lane rimmed off with 0.3 seconds remaining.

The Panthers had taken the lead, 49-48, on two James Wright free throws with 7:50 to play, and eventually pushed the advantage to 62-57 with 3:24 left on a Ronnie Jones three-point basket before Butler rallied.

Butler made 30-of-37 free throw attempts as UWM was whistled for 28 fouls. The Panthers converted on just 10-of-18 free throw tries, and the Bulldogs were whistled for 17 fouls.

UWM burst out of the gate in the second half, using a 15-4 run to turn a 31-27 deficit into a 42-35 lead with 13:37 to play.

After digging a 12-0 hole during the first 5:52 of the game, the Panthers rallied in the first half, using a 27-15 run - capped by a Dylan Page three-point basket with 1:44 to play - to tie the game at 27-27.

Earlier in the first half, Kalombo Kadima's lay-in at the 14:08 mark finally got UWM on the board, and a Justin Lettenberger tip-in of his own miss brought the Panthers to within six at 15-9. After Butler rebuilt the lead to eight, UWM again rallied, eventually pulling to within 19-18 on an Angeli third-effort with 6:10 to play before halftime.

The Panthers' road trip continues Saturday at Wright State. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m., and the game can be seen in Milwaukee on CBS-58.
