VALPARAISO, Ind. -
Laura Dallenbach collected 11 kills and Sarah Potts added 10 as the UWM volleyball team eased past Valparaiso, 30-13, 30-23, 30-20, Tuesday night in a non-conference contest.
The Panthers (14-6) hit .371 for the match and had little trouble with the Crusaders (7-15), who hit just .104 for the match and committed 26 errors.
"We played very well and really well as a team," head coach Kathy Litzau said. "We hit the ball very well, especially outside. It was a great team effort."
In game one, UWM jumped out to a 6-0 advantage and never looked back. The Panthers hit .353 in the first game and forced 11 Valpo hitting errors defensively. In game two, the Panthers fought back from an 11-3 deficit by scoring 27 of the final 39 points in the game. UWM then put the match away in game three, committing just one error and hitting .472 in cruising to the win.
Tari Boutin added nine kills and Carly Allison pitched in with eight for the Panthers, who had four players with at least 20 attacks in the match thanks to strong distribution by Lindsey Spoden, who had 34 assists.
"Lindsey did a good job distributing the ball to everyone," Litzau said. "We got production from the outside and in the middle."
The Panthers also used their serve to control the match, collecting eight service aces to just three errors.
UWM returns to action this weekend, welcoming Cleveland St. and Youngstown St. to the Klotsche Center for its final regular season homestand.
