INDIANAPOLIS, IND.--Amy Oechsner's goal in the first half helped UWM record its fifth league shutout as the Panthers topped Butler, 1-0, at Kuntz Stadium. The Panthers (11-3, 5-0 Horizon League) clinched the Horizon League Regular Season Championship with the victory.

"It was a huge game because it was basically a battle for first place," UWM coach Michael Moynihan said. "I thought the emotions of the game was indicative of what was at stake and I thought we rose to the occasion. We won the battle of the midfield, we won the 50-50 balls and we had beautiful attacking sequences."

Oechsner gave UWM the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute when she headed in a cross from Evann Franklin. The play began when Maggie Suminski served a through ball to the right side to Franklin, who sent it in for Oechsner to drive in from 12 yards out.

Kerri St. Aubin recorded four saves on the match and her second consecutive shutout. UWM outshot Butler, 12-10, on the game. Milwaukee has shut out nine of its opponents overall on the season.

"We've been very consistent, and it says a lot about our defense. We're pretty solid. We have one more game to go, so it will be nice to wrap up the league season at home," Moynihan said.

UWM returns home to host its last Horizon League match with Loyola on Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.
