MILWAUKEE-The UWM men's soccer team pulled out a 1-0 victory against MCC foe Detroit-Mercy on Friday in Detroit. Sophomore Derek Kasten scored the game-winner in double-overtime to ascend the Panthers' record to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in conference.
Kasten's goal came in the 107th minute of the sudden-victory overtime. UWM took the advantage in corner kicks, 19-2, and outshot Detroit by a 13-6 margin.
"It was a very good goal. And it was pretty much a one-way traffic. We had numerous chances, but we couldn't put it back into the net," said UWM coach Louis Bennett. "We had good second half and overtime performances, but we're still showing signs of inconsistency. That, we are hoping to eliminate."
