Panthers Roll in Exhibition Win, 4-0

Aug. 25, 2000

Milwaukee - The UWM men's soccer team posted a 4-0 win over the University of Windsor (Ont.) in an exhibition game at Engelmann Field on Friday.

"It's a good first game for us," said UWM coach Louis Bennett. "We have a long way to go to do what we want against fit and agile performers, but this was a good starting point."

Senior co-captain Blake Bostwick assisted on all four goals. The midfielder set up the first goal in the 19th minute on a through ball to freshman forward Kyle Lance, who finished by converting the scoring opportunity. In the second half, Bostwick served three successful corner kicks, two that were finished by senior defender J.B. Matthews, and a third by sophomore defender Chad Dombrowski.

"All three of our seniors showed great leadership tonight," said Bennett. "Blake had the assists, Matthews had the goals and Scott Dombrowski played likea giant in the defensive midfield."

The Panthers play an exhibition at UW-Parkside on Monday. UWM opens the regular season against Marquette on Sept. 1 at Engelmann Field.
