MILWAUKEE - The UW-Milwaukee Panthers men's basketball team (12-11 overall) continued to shine on their own hardwood, as they defeated Chicago State on Tuesday night in their final non-conference game of the season, 79-61.

Junior center Chad Angeli (Wausau, Wis.) paced the Panther attack with 24 points, nailing 9-of-10 shots from the floor. Senior Shaun Fountain (Columbus, Ohio) added 13, including two threes. Freshman Clay Tucker (Lima, Ohio) knocked in 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, before suffering a season-ending wrist injury with 4:51 remaining in the contest. Tucker was going for a dunk block, when he broke his wrist. Freshman Jason Frederick (Waukesha, Wis.) added 10 points as well.

"He [Angeli] went 9-for-10, and I want to know what shot he missed," said a jovial Panther Head Coach Bo Ryan.

The Panther defense was stingy again, forcing the Cougars into 15 turnovers, and 7 three-point attempts for the game. The Cougars came into the contest averaging nearly 17 three-point attempts per game.

But it was the cleaning of the offensive glass that won the game for UW-Milwaukee, as they tore down 12 offensive rebounds in the contest.

"Anytime you let four guards out-rebound you, that means they were hungry," said Cougar Head Coach Bo Ellis. "The only good thing that came out of tonight's game was that it doesn't count towards our Mid-Continent Conference standings."

"[We] got onto the offensive boards tonight and I liked the way that we attacked," said Ryan.

The Panthers began to light it up in the second half, as they shot 57.7% from the field, outscoring Chicago State, 37-26.

"What separates our 10 from their [UW-Milwaukee's] 10 is that they do what they are told," said Ellis.

"We [the coaches] offer advice: They execute, they perform," said Ryan.

The Panthers return to MCC action on Thursday night when they host conference leader Butler at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs are coming off of a 81-54 drubbing of Cleveland State last Saturday night.
