MILWAUKEE-The UWM women's soccer team ended its three game winning streak on Friday night when they were defeated by Minnesota, 1-0, in Minneapolis. After shutting out their last two opponents, the Panthers were shut out by the Golden Gophers (7-6) as they fell to 7-6-1 on the season.

"We battled really hard. It was a good, hard-fought game," said UWM coach Michael Moynihan. "They should be pretty happy with the way they performed."

Leading the Golden Gophers with six shots, midfielder Rachel Roth recorded her first goal of the season with a rebound goal in the 70th minute. UWM freshman goalkeeper Kerri St. Aubin saved the initial shot taken by Minnesota's Keely Dinse, but Roth was there to tap it in to take the 1-0 lead.

Garnering her third consecutive start, St. Aubin played well for UWM as she recorded 12 saves in the match. The Panthers were led by sophomore midfielder Maggie Suminski's three shots, but were outshot 22-9 by the Golden Gophers.

"I thought we played pretty well. A good effort, but didn't really capitalize in finishing in the final third. It's not that we didn't create chances, we just made some poor attacking decisions," said Moynihan.
