INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball team dropped another tough road game tonight, falling, 64-72, to Butler University in Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Panthers got off to a slow start in the first half, with the Bulldogs leading 15-2 less than seven minutes into the first half. The Panthers turned up the heat, bringing it within five points in less than two minutes. The Panthers continued to roll, going into half-time down by only one point.
In the second half, the Panthers remained hot, taking a one-point lead less than four minutes into the half. The teams continued to trade leads for the next nine minutes, until Butler took a one-point lead with 7:50 left in the game - a lead they never relinquished throughout the rest of the game.
Freshman Clay Tucker (Lima, Ohio) led the Panthers with 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Senior Shaun Fountain (Columbus, Ohio) added 14 points and three rebounds, while junior Chad Angeli (Wausau, Wis.) was the only other Panther who scored in double digits with 13 points and three rebounds. As a team, the Panthers went 13-for-29 (.448) from three-point range - with Tucker alone nailing five three-pointers. The Panthers were .389 from the field and .818 from the line.
The Panthers return home next week to take on Detroit on Thursday and Cleveland State on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. in the Klotsche Center.
