MILWAUKEE - UWM's Scott Dombrowski recorded his first-ever hat trick as the Panther men's soccer team defeated UIC, 3-1, at Uihlein Soccer Park on Thursday night.
It was the MCC opener for the Panthers, who improved to 6-4 on the season.
A junior defensive midfielder, Dombrowski overtook the UWM scoring lead with his three goals against the Flames. Dombrowski now has six points and 13 points on the season.
"Scott spent a lot of time this summer improving his game," said UWM coach Louis Bennett. "This year, he approaches the ball and plays it with a crispness."
Dombrowski started the scoring when he connected on a header that went far post in the 17th minute. Blake Bostwick served the ball and recorded the assist.
In the 55th minute, Dombrowski connected on a 22-yard blast after a poor clear by the Flames' goalkeeper.
UIC scored its lone goal 17 seconds later when Stein Garcia took a pass from John Collins and drove the ball far post.
Dombrowski rounded out the scoring with a 28-yard blast in the 67th minute.
UWM goalkeeper Ari Solomon record three saves in the Panther win.
Memphis plays UWM on Sunday. Kickoff is noon.
