UWM Downs the Phoenix In Straight Games

GREEN BAY, Wis. - For the second time this season, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee volleyball team swept the UW-Green Bay Phoenix, 3-0, in just an hour. The Panthers downed the Phoenix, 15-6, 15-0, 15-12, last night in the Phoenix Sports Center in Green Bay, Wis. The Panthers up their record to 13-1 and 2-0 in the conference, while the Phoenix drop to 3-13, 0-2.

The Panthers were led by senior Sue Raschka (MB, Chicago, Ill., Immaculate Heart of Mary), who was named the MCC Volleyball Player of the Week, with 10 kills and a solid .444 hitting percentage. Ericka Malterer (Sr., Waupun, Wis., Waupun) followed with 9 kills, 8 digs, and 5 assists.

The last time these two teams met was at the Wisconsin Challenge on Sept. 10 when the Panthers also took an hour to sweep UW-Green Bay in three straight games, 15-3, 15-5, 15-3.

The Panthers take the weekend off, resuming action next weekend when they travel to Chicago to take on UIC on Friday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., and Loyola on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m.
