MADISON, Wis. - For the second time this season, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee volleyball team defeated cross-town rival Marquette University in straight games, sweeping the Golden Eagles, 15-11, 15-10, 15-6, in the second match of the Wisconsin Challenge in today?s early action at the UW Field House. The Panthers took just an hour last night to beat UW-Green Bay, 3-0, in the first match of the three-match round robin.
Sophomore Chrissy Schurla (MB, Chicago, Ill./Evergreen Park HS) led the Panthers with 24 kills, putting her 10th in the UWM record books for single game kills. Seniors Ericka Malterer (OP, Waupun, Wis./Waupun HS) and Sue Raschka (MB, Chicago, Ill./Immaculate Heart of Mary) each added 13 kills. Malterer also had 12 digs.
The Panthers take on UW-Madison tonight at 7 p.m. for the state volleyball crown. The match will be in the UW-Field House.
