Men's Soccer Falls to Wright State

Nov. 4, 1999

INDIANAPOLIS - The UWM men's soccer team, seeded second, fell to No. 7 Wright State in overtime, 2-1, in the opening round of the MCC Championship.

Senior forward Joe Luedke provided the offense, scoring in the game's 20th minute from nine yards out.

The Panthers appeared to score a second goal in the first half, but Byron Huson's shot was disallowed due to an offsides call.

But the Panthers were unable to hold the lead.

"They put on the pressure, and we couldn't handle it," said UWM coach Louis Bennett.

Wright State tied the score with 11 minutes remaining in regulation and then provided the gamewinner 11 minutes into overtime.

Chris Dadaian tallied nine saves in goal for UWM.

"Chris played very well, but there were mediocre performances all around," said Bennett.

It was the last game in the UWM uniform for four seniors: Luedke, Huson, Tony Colvin and Joe Bernstein.

The Panthers conclude their season with a record of 12-8-1.
