UWM Volleyball Sweeps DePaul in Non-Conference Match-up

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee volleyball team earned its 11th consecutive win tonight with a 3-0 sweep of the visiting DePaul Blue Demons at the J. Martin Klotsche Center. The Panthers are now 21-1 overall, and 8-0 in the MCC. The Blue Demons drop to 17-10 overall and are 9-3 in Conference USA play.

The Panthers took the first two games 15-5 and 15-2. In the third game, DePaul came back, keeping the score within UWM by a point either way. But the Panthers poured it on at the end, finishing up the game, 15-12, to take the match.

Senior Ericka Malterer (OP, Waupun, Wis.) led the Panthers with 13 kills and nine digs, followed by senior Sue Raschka (MB, Chicago, Ill.) with 12 kills and sophomores Chrissy Schurla (MB, Chicago, Ill.) and Laura Dallenbach (OH, Waterloo, Iowa) with 11 kills each. Senior Katie Schneider (S, West Bend, Wis.) tallied 48 assists, along with four digs and four kills.

The Panthers finish up their home schedule this weekend when they play host to conference-rival Loyola on Friday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 6 when they face Illinois-Chicago at 2 p.m.
