Men's Basketball Earns Another Last Second Win

KANSAS CITY - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee earned its second win of its young season today, defeating UMKC, 70-68. Reminiscent of the Panthers' win last Saturday over Central Michigan, the game turned the Panthers? way after freshman Clay Tucker (F, Lima, Ohio) hit a last-second three-pointer. Down 65-68 with 41 seconds left in the game, Tucker hit a three-pointer to tie the game. On the Panthers? next possession, Tucker was fouled and hit both free throws, pulling the Panthers ahead by two?a lead that stuck for the Panthers, winning the game, 70-68.

?Our guys just refused to give up,? said head coach Bo Ryan. ?Hard work and grit won this game.?

The Panthers up their record to 2-1, while the Kangaroos fall to 1-2.

Tucker led the Panthers with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a pair of steals. Junior Chad Angeli added 16 points and 5 rebounds. Off the bench, freshman Jason Frederick (G, Waukesha, Wis.) scored 15 points and had 3 rebounds. Freshman Kalombo Kadima (G, Milwaukee, Wis.) a team-leading 6 rebounds, while dishing out 5 assists, and scoring 2 points before fouling out late in the second half. Junior Adrian Coffey (F, Chicago, Ill.) also had 6 rebounds, along with four points, a pair of assists and a steal.

The Panthers take the rest of the week off before traveling to Muncie, Ind., to take on Troy State in the first round of the First Merchant Classic hosted by Ball State University on Friday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. EST.
