INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee volleyball team swept the Butler Bulldogs, 3-0, tonight at Butler?s Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Panthers up their record to 23-2 overall, 10-1 in the MCC, while the Bulldogs drop under .500 to 13-14 overall, 4-7 in the MCC.
Butler jumped out to a 6-2 lead in game one before UW-Milwaukee stormed back to take control of the game. Senior Sue Raschka (MB, Chicago, Ill.) was the hot hand for the Panthers in the first game, racking up eight kills and hitting a sizzling .800. As a team, the Panthers hit a solid .400 in game one.
The Panthers dominated the second game, led by sophomore Laura Dallenbach (OH, Waterloo, Iowa) with seven kills. The Panthers shut down the Bulldogs? offense, collecting five team blocks with the Bulldogs hitting just .022.
In the third game, the two teams remained neck and neck, until the Panthers took the game, 17-15, in great part due to Dallenbach?s seven kills.
The Panthers had four players in double-digit kills, led by Dallenbach?s 19. Raschka added another 10 kills, while senior Ericka Malterer (OP, Waupun, Wis.) and sophomore Chrissy Scurla (MB, Chicago, Ill.) had 11 and 12 kills respectively. Raschka also tallied six blocks, along with sophomore Julie Yankus (OH, New Berlin, Wis.). Senior Katie Schneider (S, West Bend, Wis.) dished out 53 assists.
The Panthers look to wrap up their conference season tomorrow with a win when they travel to Wright State on tomorrow to take on the Raiders at 4 p.m. EST at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium.
