Milwaukee - The UWM men's soccer team was handed a 3-1 defeat by Northern Illinois on Wednesday night at Uihlein Soccer Field.
Northern Illinois scored two goals in the first half and took a 2-0 lead.
Senior forward Joe Luedke scored a goal in his third consecutive game when he pressured the Northern Illinois keeper in the 46th minute. He deflected a pass into the goal to make the score 2-1.
But Northern Illinois answered with a goal 54 seconds later for the final tally.
"We had too many weak links in the chain," said coach Louis Bennett, who saw his team fall to 9-6-1. "We had some good performances, and some terrible defensive performances."
The Panthers host Wisconsin at Wisconsin Lutheran High School on Friday. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
