After spending the 2014-15 season as the video coordinator, former Milwaukee guard and Wauwatosa, Wis., native Allan Hanson heads into his first season as the director of basketball operations on Rob Jeter’s staff.
Â
Milwaukee finished the 2014-15 season as the hottest team in the Horizon League, winning seven of its final nine outings, including each of the last four. For the first time since 2005-06, the Panthers saw multiple players earn All-Horizon League honors as both Steve McWhorter and Matt Tiby garnered second-team recognition.
Â
In four seasons as a player at Milwaukee from 2004-08, Hanson contributed 4.4 points per game and knocked down 93 three-point field goals. His best season came in 2006-07 when he averaged 7.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 2.9 apg in 31 appearances. As a freshman, he played a role on the team that reached the NCAA Sweet 16 by tallying 1.0 ppg in 21 contests. The following year he shot 47 percent (21-for-45) from three-point territory and was a key player off the bench for a Jeter-coached squad that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Â
Hanson, a former standout at Wauwatosa East High School, helped Milwaukee to a pair of 20-win seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances in his career. Prior to returning to his alma mater for the 2014-15 season, Hanson spent two seasons as an assistant boys basketball coach at Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wis., where the Knights won back-to-back WIAA Division 4 state championships and posted a 49-7 record.
