Kira Carter joins the Milwaukee women's basketball staff as an assistant coach heading into the 2017-18 season. Carter comes to Milwaukee after one season at Missouri S&T. As the lone assistant on the Miners staff, Carter handled or assisted in seemingly all aspects of the program. She was responsible for all scouting, film work and game planning, as well as travel arrangements. She also assisted in recruiting, player development, practice planning and budgetary decisions.
"Our staff is now complete and I couldn't be more excited to announce our newest hire in Kira Carter,” Rechlicz said. “Coach Carter brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to our point-combo guard position. Her enthusiasm for the game is contagious and fits with who we are as a team and staff. I know our players will create special bonds with her, as she is a relationship-first type of coach. I look forward to mentoring her and watching her grow as a young coach in this business."
“I am very excited to join the Milwaukee staff,” Carter said. “Coach Rechlicz has done a great job with this program, and I am looking forward to being apart of it. The women on this team and staff play and coach with energy and passion. I plan to bring my work ethic and positivity to the staff. I am excited to work with our point guards, in addition to continuing to grow and learn from our other staff members."
Prior to her time with the Miners, Carter spent two years at Wabash Valley College, where she helped the Warriors to a Region XXIV Championships and an NJCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2015. Carter also spent time at Thomas College and with AAU team Manzer Basketball Academy.
A standout on the court, Carter started her collegiate career at fellow Horizon League school Oakland, where she appeared in 28 games as a freshman. She then transferred closer to home, where she earned First-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-Region 24 honors at Wabash Valley College.
