MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Athletic Department has announced today a new partnership with iHeart Media for the upcoming 2016-17 men's and women's basketball campaigns.
Â
Both teams will once again have all games available on an over-the-air broadcast, with the men's basketball team returning to WISN 1130 AM and the women's team returning to The Big 920 AM.
Â
"We are very happy to announce a continued partnership with iHeart Media," Milwaukee Director of Athletics
Amanda Braun said. "We have developed a great working relationship with them over the years and look forward to a successful 2016-17 season for both the men and the women's programs. We feel the familiarity of the stations is a great fit for the department as well as for the fans of Panther Athletics."
Â
In addition, coach's shows with both
LaVall Jordan and
Kyle Rechlicz are set to return and all contests – including postseason – are scheduled to be broadcasted live this season.
Â
Making his debut on the men's play-by-play side this year will be
Scott Warras. That addition to the staff was announced
last week.
Â
The women's play-by-play position will also then be new, as Matt Menzl steps in behind the microphone to take you every step of the way with the Panthers. No stranger to Horizon League basketball, Menzl has spent the past six years as the voice of the Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team, with his time there culminating with a trip to the NCAA Tournament a season ago.
Â
A veteran of the Milwaukee-area broadcast field, Menzl has also done ESPN3 work for UWM broadcasts dating back to the start of the Horizon League Network in 2007 for men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball and baseball.
Â
Fans will also be familiar with him for his work on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel's high school sports coverage, NCAA Championships for WebStream productions (track & field, hockey, volleyball, softball), WIAA high school soccer state championships and as the voice of the Lakeshore Chinooks since the team's inception in the summer of 2012.
