Pleyte served as the women's volleyball coach at UWM with a career coaching record of 498-159. He led the Panthers to nine-consecutive winning seasons and a record seven-consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances. The team finished in third place in the nation in 1984. Pleyte has also coached six All-Americans at UWM while earning both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the school.
